Help Rebuild Doug’s Library
February 13, 2008
Last Friday, Doug Floyd (the brother of my college pal, Jeremy) made an awful discovery. His small church had caught fire. Inside the church he stored thousands and thousands of his books, part of an awesome collection that Doug had been building for years. Some of the books are irreplaceable because they’re out-of-print. Some can be re-purchased, at a huge expense.
I treasure the books I own and my collection is probably 1/50 of what was damaged or ruined in the fire. I can’t imagine losing a collection like that. I’m hopeful that Doug will be able to salvage some of it.
For the books that he does have to replace, here’s his Amazon Wishlist and if you want to donate some coffee money to help him re-purchase the books burned in the fire, send the funds to his church using Paypal and the email address dougATspringoflight.org. Or visit Jeremy’s blog and use the Donate button.

Thanks Ryan.

Seems to me that had God wanted him to have the books He wouldn’t have let his church burn down.
Has Doug tried praying for the books to miraculously return?
That was rude.
Andy, take your hostilities elsewhere.
Thanks Ryan for the post. I appreciate the support of the net community. While we feel a bit displaced, it’ll work out. Funny thing--immediately my Christian friends and atheist friends were considered about finding a place for our movie nights!
Maybe a little German flick I just saw, “Shultz Gets the Blues.” Check it out - it’s sort of existentialism “light”.
Doug, I love that flick! The wife wasn’t too big on it but it was worth the watch. :)
