7 Fun Google Code Searches

October 05, 2006

Google just announced that they’ve added Search to their Google Code project. The tech-web is ablaze with people finding interesting things (and sometimes scary) through searches, so here are 7 Fun Google Code Searches:

  1. wp-config - Oh look! Lots of usernames and passwords. [via Jesse in the TC comments]

  2. Bill Gates - My favorite is

/* Ask Bill Gates what this is all about. */

    You and me both, buddy.

  3. George Bush - And the winner is…

// ignore anything we don’t understand, like George W. Bush

Yep, had to sneak that one in.

  4. pray - Praying seems to be a theme, for sure.

    # Then pray :) This is ugly.

    Amen.

  5. f@*k - Some funny ones [via Waxy]

  6. Steve Jobs - Getting desparate:

// help me steve jobs, you’re my only hope.

  7. hack - A standard one, but still makes the list.

    /* various hacks, don’t look :) */

Hey Ryan, they are very cool searches inside source code. I know what it’s like and you searching for ‘hack’ made me laugh.

I enjoyed the first hit when searching for ‘horrible code here’!

Nice list, Ryan.  A few other code searches to try:

    cheese
    wtf
    spam eggs
    “monty python”
    “not going to work”
    stupid
    easter egg

Obviously, it’s the comments in the code that’s funny.  Not the code itself.  This is old school UGC.  ;-)
